Living Black Worlds: "Black Emergence" Film Screening

Presented by Instituto, the film details a day spent with the Jackson family of South Phoenix as they honor ten years since the passing of their beloved grandmother McDell Otha Jackson.

Through storytelling and facilitated conversation, Black Emergence: Traveling Mercy to the Desert Sun reflects on legacy, care and the ways memory lives on through family, land and community.

The screening invites audiences to reconsider the interplay of land, community, displacement and belonging, and how Black matriarchs keep us anchored across generations.

Lunch bites will be served in the courtyard by Kings Plate food truck, the valley's go-to for delicious soul food flavors on-the-go!
