A 25th Birthday Wish that Builds Community Power: Help Us Raise Funds for Instituto

by Maher “Mo” Osman

Hey there!!

I feel like people are starting to know who I am 🫣- BUT for those of you who do not know me, my name is Maher Osman (Mo). I am the Development Coordinator at Instituto and am also in this year’s Monzón Fellowship! I have been at Instituto for about a year and some change, and it has been nothing short of a life-changing experience for me.

I have been so fortunate to be part of a team! So far in 2023, we have conducted 24 trainings that supported over 635 community members, partners, and Instituto Alumni- all of which extend across ten counties in Arizona! Let’s celebrate some more - IT’S MY BIRTHDAY MONTH! This October, we’re launching our $25 for 25 to celebrate my 25th birthday on October 23rd, and I’m a Libra!

Our $25 for 25 birthday campaign will be running from October 16th to the 27th, highlighting the amazing work happening here at Instituto with the goal of raising $1000 to continue providing capacity building to our communities and partners -it’s my birthday wish 👉🏽👈🏽. We want to start this campaign out with a bang, so the first ten donors who donate $25+ to our campaign will receive official Instituto branded swag with limited edition items such as our handy tote bag, sports water bottle, and coloring book created exclusively for us by Mixed Change!

Outside of it being the most amazing month of the year because it’s my birthday, donating to Instituto means you’ll be supporting the work of many amazing leaders and organizations like Pablo Correa, 2019 Monzón Alum and Co-Executive Director of Rural Arizona Engagement (RAZE) & Rural Arizona Action (RAZA).

[Instituto’s] Monzón helped me realize that you can never just dive into the work. You can’t force it. You have to be able to open your mind and heart to dreaming, envisioning, and resting. This helps us push our imaginations and organize in a way that actually pushes us forward … There would be no RAZE or RAZA without Monzón and Instituto. [Instituto’s program] helped me create lines of communication and the networks necessary to be able to do the work as an individual and as [an] organization”

Please celebrate with us, donate $25 as a birthday gift for me, and to celebrate all the amazing work the Instituto team has done so far 💗 Thank you for all that you do!
