WHAT’s BUILDING FOR THE FUTURE?
Instituto launched the Building for the Future Project (BFTF) in may 2023, a three-part effort to inform the specific needs OF THE CIVIC-ENGAGEMENT NONPROFIT sector IN ARIZONA and provide actionable recommendations for investors. Our three strategies include: research, a Seed-fund grant, and a robust technical assistance effort.
BFTF REPORT
The 2023 Building for the Future inaugural report is the product of nearly two years of community-engaged research on the state of the Arizona nonprofit civic engagement sector. The report demonstrates the critical importance of a healthy and sustainable nonprofit civic-engagement sector and builds a case for increased investment and support from Arizona philanthropic foundations.

The 2023 BFTF report was designed to engage foundation staff and board members as well as staff, leadership, and organizers of the civic engagement sector. The report’s practical data insights, thoughtful recommendations, and achievable calls to action are beneficial to all individuals supporting the nonprofit sector and helping to build more just, thriving, and healthier communities.
