OPEN POSITION: Education Outreach Specialist

Instituto's mission is to build sustained political power with low-income and communities of color in Arizona. We are launching a Latinx education advocacy organization to advance and protect the rights of students in Arizona and we are looking for an Education Outreach Specialist to help us build power in communities all across the state.

Position Description
Instituto is launching a new effort, an advocacy organization called ALL In Education (Arizona Latino Leaders in Education). This new initiative is an effort to engage, identify and mobilize Latinx leaders interested in improving education outcomes of Latin@ students in Arizona.

ALL In Education will focus on developing political power by:

  1. Identifying community leaders interested in addressing educational inequities in Latino communities.

  2. Leading research efforts to disaggregate data and make inequities affecting Latin@ students in Arizona more visible and actionable

  3. Developing a policy agenda that supports Latinx student success, and that builds trusting and actionable relationships with other communities of color to advance their access to a high quality and well-resourced education in Arizona.

ALL In Education identify, invest, and support tomorrow’s Latinx education advocates to find solutions to tackle some of the greatest education inequities in our education system. The Education Outreach Specialist will be a critical role in developing capacity of educational leaders in Arizona and ensuring students representing the fastest growing population in our school systems have a voice that protects, defends and advances their rights at all levels of government.

Specific Responsibilities May Include:

  • Targeting: Developing a list of organizations and networks with high concentration of Latinx leaders, including cross-sectors in business, technology, advocacy, philanthropy and education.

  • Outreach: Schedule weekly presentations with targeted groups, arrange one on one conversations with individuals interested in joining the effort, or who can serve as connectors, and collecting commitment cards.

  • Community Engagement: Represent effort at community events, funder’s convenings and board meetings.

  • Event support: Assist advocacy event logistics, preparation of agendas and turnout for ALL In official launch in November.


  • Strong communications skills, including curiosity and passion on education issues. Experience engaging communities in one-on-one conversations and trainings.

  • Knowledge of PowerPoint, Excel and basic design.

  • Fluency in Spanish.

  • Exceptional attention to detail, along with strong project management skills.

  • Ability to work independently and exercise judgment in public engagement work, establishing priorities and meeting project goals.

  • This position will require both creativity as well as a willingness to provide event-planning support if and when needed.

  • Prior organizing experience preferred.

Salary for this full-time position is competitive and depends on prior experience and includes a professional development and technology fund.
